Here’s what two or our longest serving members of the team, Jess and Tasha, had to say about working at Keysafe.
“We all work together as a team”
Jess was doing admin at NFU but was bored and needed a new challenge when she saw a recruiter’s advert for Application Processor at Keysafe. Although she started ten years ago, she says “it feels like two years”!
“I thought the job sounded unique since tenancy referencing wasn’t something I had heard of, I had rented previously but wasn’t tenant vetted.”
“I didn’t consider anything else because I was put forward for the job through a recruitment consultant. I had one interview with Jo, and we just clicked. “
“I came to Keysafe as an Application Processor. After three years I was promoted to ‘Senior’, but I’m not responsible for a team, we all work together as a team. I look after three of our most important clients making sure the tenants are suitable for the agents and landlords. Chasing applications, speaking to employees and landlords.”
“I enjoy it, it’s interesting and challenging. Even though I’ve been here for 10 years there’s a new challenge every day. Jo and Gareth are great bosses, they’re good people. The time has flown by, the days go so quickly.”
I’m a big animal lover so having the dogs in the office is great. It’s empty without them!
“We’re a really good team”
Tasha was 19 and had two part-time jobs, one in a shop and one in a café, when she heard about the job with Keysafe. She wanted something more stable but also something that would be interesting. She’s responsible for chasing references from landlords and employers.
“It’s only two minutes from my house!”
“When I had my daughter, eight years ago, Gareth and Jo let me go part time. I work from 9.15 to 2.15 so I can do both school runs.”
“You never know what the people are going to be like. I once got a landlord reference from a lady in labour. I told her I’d email her, but she said, “Just ask me the questions now and I’ll answer you!”
“We’re a really good team”
And, here’s what our MD, Gareth Fowler has to say:
“Nobody gets employee selection right 100% of the time, we didn’t. But you learn what works and what doesn’t. What’s most important is to get the balance of the team correct and only add people who will maintain the harmony. We’re a very close-knit team and being a team player is a must.”
“Our business is very much concentrated on the busy summer months. Staff work longer hours than at other times. In order to balance this we try to be very relaxed for the rest of the year with regard to their working environment no fixed breaks, downtime etc..
“We always pay a Summer and Xmas Bonus and never forget the little things like Easter Eggs, Advent calendars and social events throughout the year.”
“Our industry is niche, so we don’t expect to recruit people with specific experience. We look for personality and willingness to learn. Self-sufficiency and personality are massively encouraged. And the rest can be taught.”
“The CIPD’s latest Employee Outlook Survey reported a 7% rise, over the last 12 months, in the number of firms finding it difficult to retain staff. We’re proud to be bucking this trend but take nothing for granted and will continue to invest in keeping our team happy. If are team are happy, our customers are too.
